In the new year, CSL will be taking the work in Hawthorne deeper into the community. CSL will work with our STRIVIN' community to create a crisis response plan to be ready to activate if a crisis occurs. CSL will also deepen its community approach to family stability by inviting partners to take a deep dive look with us into family stability, community resiliency and long-term thriving. Together with the neighbors living in and around Hawthorne, CLS will create a stronger Independence and a safer, more stable community.
Needs Statement: Hawthorne Place is a hot spot for domestic crimes, chronic trauma and poverty. Hawthorne has a high rate of move outs for residents and the corresponding transiency rate for students in schools. It is home to nearly 1,000 children age 18 and under. Realizing that every trauma and life event is connected to another trauma and life event (within a family, within a housing complex, within a school, within a community), CSL will be bringing the lens of community to the challenge of keeping families stably housed, while they work on their financial growth, career path and other stability. .
COMBAT Funding: $100,000.00
